Mia loves to go outside with her dog Max. She prefers to go outside every day with Max, her cheerful companion who loves to go outside and wag his tail. Max's enthusiasm drags Mia everywhere, often to places that are less accessible for wheelchair users. For Mia, that moment outside is an outlet, a chance to enjoy the fresh air, the company of her dog and to get away from everyday life for a while. But such a walk is not always without obstacles, literally and figuratively...
Mia knows better than anyone how challenging it can be to brave the world in a wheelchair. Her neighborhood is beautiful, with quiet streets and beautiful parks, but often her fun is spoiled by the unexpected barriers she encounters: high curbs, narrow paths full of gravel, cobblestones or cracks in the road where her small front wheels get stuck. A simple walk can sometimes turn into a real obstacle course. For Max, these obstacles are no problem. When Max sees a nice branch or another dog, he happily runs towards it. Of course, he doesn't realize that Mia has to stop for a moment, because her way is blocked. Max then stands next to her, wagging his tail impatiently, as if he wants to encourage her to continue. "Come on, Mia, let's continue, right?" he seems to say with those happy, brown eyes of his. It sometimes breaks Mia's heart to have to hold him back, while he wants to move forward so badly. Yet Mia is determined, she will not disappoint him and she searches again and again for a way to continue, sometimes with detours, sometimes with some patience and perseverance.
The moments when they have a nice clear path in front of them feel like pure freedom for both of them. Max, with his nose low and his tail high, is completely absorbed in his surroundings. He sniffs at every blade of grass, runs forward and then comes back for a moment, as if he wants to check if Mia is still behind him. And Mia? She enjoys it in her own way, with a smile on her lips.
Despite the challenges, Mia keeps walking with Max, because those moments outside give her a lot of strength. The bond between them is stronger than any obstacle. Together they overcome every bump, every pebble in the road, thanks to the Cloudroller. It makes it easier for her to take Max for a nice ride. Where they can, they persevere, and sometimes they even find a new route to explore. And sometimes, at a nice moment, there is a passer-by who notices what a great team they are. Then a smile appears, a nod of understanding, and Mia knows that there are people who see the challenges she is going through. And maybe, who knows, that person thinks for a moment about how the world can be made a little more accessible for people like Mia.
